Tonight I attended the kick-off event for the Homewood Children's Village at the Faison Primary School in Homewood. I was very impressed and inspired by the model that was presented to the community (hundreds of people from Homewood attended). The leaders of the HVC outlined a comprehensive, holistic model for transformation in Homewood based on Geoffrey Canada's model of community transformation from Harlem called the Harlem Children's Zone.

Please pray for this initiative... specifically that God would work throughout Homewood and through the leaders of the HVC for the transformation of this community.

I checked out the link. I'm impressed. It's about time that the leaders (I use that term loosely ) in Pittsburgh step up and address these problems. This iniative looks like a positive step in the right direction. Let's pray that it gets the resources, and most importantly the public and political will, to follow through and do it right.
